Cannabis Use Disorder

Legalisation, high-THC products and the cannabis hyperemesis epidemic have reshaped cannabis-related clinical care. The session covers DSM-5 cannabis use disorder criteria, screening tools (CUDIT-R), cognitive-behavioural therapy and motivational enhancement, pharmacotherapy candidates (gabapentin, N-acetylcysteine, dronabinol, nabiximols), the cannabis hyperemesis syndrome diagnostic pathway, and synthetic cannabinoid receptor agonist toxicology including K2/Spice clusters. Discussion addresses cannabis–psychosis epidemiology, prenatal cannabis exposure outcomes, the regulatory landscape across US, EU and Canadian jurisdictions, and the implications of medical cannabis programmes for clinical messaging in chronic pain, sleep and oncology populations.
